Les Sandy has performed in some of the grandest houses in the land. And he's played with musical legends. He's also performed in countless dives and worked with talented musicians who never encountered fame. The Raeford native will be the headline performer Friday at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke's third annual Friends of the Library fundraiser, "Books, BBQ and Bluegrass". The event raises money for scholarships.

Sandy, driven by his love for music is now retired, but like most folks in his profession, he is still keen on moonlighting when someone calls or drops by with a fiddle or a banjo. The featured speaker for this event will be D.G. Martin, host of UNC-TV's "Book Watch". Last year the fundraiser raised $10.000.
